Allied Auctions and Appraisals was started in 2002 as an alternative to the traditional auction concept. We started our company with a goal to provide customized and personal advice to our clients as opposed to the pure commission concept offered by so many auction companies. Through our expertise and contacts in the construction equipment, agriculture and trucking industries, we have helped our clients liquidate or purchase equipment in a way that is most advantageous to their bottom line. We've worked with many companies large and small, lending institutions and attorneys to provide expertise advice on equipment valuations that allow our clients to make critical business decisions.
Robert "Bob" Bornheimer has been in the Construction Equipment and Auction
business for 1940-2023. Bob started out reconditioning equipment and managing the auction
site preparation for Thorp Sales and Finance Company in the late 1960's. In the early 70's, Bob
left Thorp and started Whittington Corporation which specialized in consignment equipment
auctions. In the 80's, Bob obtained his auctioneers license and began managing all aspects of
the auction process. Furthering his development, in the 1990's Bob earned his GPPA (Graduate
Personal Property Appraiser) designation from the National Auctioneers Association. Bob's vast
mechanical knowledge, skill as an auctioneer and acumen as an appraiser allows Allied to provide
professional advice at the highest levels to clients regarding their equipment needs.
Robert grew up in the auction business and has been around that industry for almost his entire life. Robert started out helping his Father with the reconditioning and make ready process before moving on to manage the operation side of Allied. Robert graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale with a degree in accounting. In addition to his tenure in the auction business, Robert has 25 years of experience in the financial and insurance industries.
Tom started working on the family farm at an early age. With his tenure in the Agriculture Industry, Tom has an excellent knowledge base of equipment from multiple era's. Although he specializes in Agriculture Equipment, Tom also works with our clients on their Construction Equipment needs. Tom continues to run a successful farming operation and custom harvests for multiple land owners in the southern Illinois area. Tom has worked with Allied since it's inception and is a valuable part of our team.
